You can double-click!
If you've been using LightWave for a while you may have found that you got unpredictable results
when you double-clicked a LightWave scene or object file, perhaps it opened in the
wrong version of LightWave, or it lost your config settings.
If so, help is at hand! If you followed the article on configuring
LightWave's shortcut icons, you're halfway there already. Even so, we’ll take it step-by-step,
starting with Layout.
Configuring Layout
- Open an explorer (My Computer) window
- In the menu, choose Tools > Folder Options
- Select File Types
- Scroll down the list until you find LWS then go to step 12
- If you didn't find LWS, we'll have to create it:
- Click New
- A Create New Extension dialog will open
- Enter LWS as the extension and click OK
- In the lower section, click Advanced
- The next section allows you to Edit File Type
- Enter LightWave Scene at the top
- In the Actions area choose open then go to step 16
- If you don't have an entry for open, we'll create it:
- Click New
- In the Action line type open
- For Application used... enter the full path to LightWave
(Layout) including the -c config path option,
exactly as it is in your LightWave shortcut followed by %1.
For example: D:\LightWave_90\Programs\lightwav.exe -cD:\LightWave_90\Configs %1
- Click OK and then Close
- All done!
