Having problems with the Hub locking things up? You're not alone!
Firstly, check your firewall - the latest firewalls seem to be much more aggressive.
However, it seems that the problems aren't consistent. I recently set up 8 new machines, all identical, and some have the hub problems, others seem fine.
Here's a solution that may help - run the Hub first!
Create a shortcut to launch the Hub from the desktop or in the Start Menu.
I suggest you rename it with the version number as appropriate, for example, Hub_85 or Hub_92.
Right-click the icon and select Properties from the context menu.
If you have set up a configs folder, add the text -cD:\LightWave_92\Configs to the existing text in the Target box. Obviously, you would adapt this as necessary, depending on the LightWave version, and where you've installed it.
Hit "OK" and you're done.
Double-click the Hub icon and respond to any request from your firewall, etc. The run Layout and Modeler from their own shortcuts.
Quit Layout and Modeler, then quit the Hub by right-clicking the icon in the system tray (down in the bottom-right corner near the clock).
Launch the Hub again and right-click the system tray icon to launch Layout and/or Modeler. You should find they'll pop up in pretty short order.
Alternatively, see my article on how to run without the hub.
