Reconfiguring An Existing LightWave Installation

By default, LightWave installs into the "Program Files" directory. A fresh LightWave 8 install, for example, is located at C:\Program Files\LightWave [8] and we'll use this as the basis for this example.

Let's assume we want to reconfigure the LightWave to D:\LightWave_80.

  1. We start by creating the D:\LightWave_80 folder:
Open an explorer (My Computer) window
  2. Double-click on the D: drive
  3. In the menu, choose File > New > Folder
  4. Enter the name for our folder: LightWave_80
  5. Open the folder and move the window off to the right

  6. Open another explorer (My Computer) window
  7. Click through to C:\Program Files\LightWave [8]
  8. Select just the core LightWave folders, don't bother with Content, PSFonts or the Sentinel folder.
  9. Your screen should look something like this:
  1. Drag-and-drop the folders to the D:\LightWave_80 window to copy them there.

Click here if you need to add LightWave updates.

In the next part, I'll show you how to setup your config files.
