Smart-Save 2

Saves object and scene files and creates incremental backups. Unlike LightWave's incremental savers, the latest version always has the same name as the original file - the older versions are stored in a backup folder.

How It Works

Smart-Save creates backup folders where it keeps time-stamped backup copies of your objects and scenes.

When you first run Smart-Save, you will be asked for some basic information - your initials (added to the backups) and the name for the backup folder. The default is "Old", although many studios use "+Old" to force the backup folder to the top of directory listings.

It creates a log file that stores information and any comments.

Smart-Save can tell if a file is unchanged and will tell you if this is the case. You can check "Suppress Extra Notifications" to avoid these messages.

Smart-Save has a smart-revert function that enables you to restore a prior version. Note that "Write Log Files" must be enabled for this to work.

For those upgrading from previous versions of Smart-Save, the plugin can build log files from old backups.

Installation

When you add the plugin, LightWave will report 15 plugins found.
